A retreat is a promise of care

The water can keep that promise too.

People come to a retreat to take time for themselves. Every element of the stay, from the food to the setting and the programme, is part of that experience.

Water that is filtered, hydrogen-rich and served straight from the tap fits naturally with that philosophy. No plastic bottles, no compromise.

With a visible badge, your guests know their water was chosen with the same care as the food, the teachers and the programme.

Different places, different water

Every location is different. The opportunity is the same.

Water is not the same everywhere. Depending on where your retreat is, the challenge looks different.

Where tap water is among the best

In some places, tap water meets some of the highest standards in the world. It is clean, safe and carefully controlled. Still, traces of medicine residues, pesticides and metals can be found. All within the limits, but not what you want to offer guests who are more and more aware of what they drink. And in the end, it is still ordinary water.

Where tap water is safe, but hard

In other places, tap water is safe to drink, but often hard and chlorinated. Guests notice it in the taste of their water, coffee and tea, and feel it on their skin and hair after a shower. The result is often the same: many guests still choose bottled water.

Where tap water is not safe to drink

In many places, guests can't drink from the tap at all. So even the finest retreats rely on bottled water. A beautiful retreat, with water from a bottle. It doesn't match the experience you have created. And in many cases, that is before we even talk about the plastic waste.

Whatever the quality of your tap water, there is a step beyond. Water that is not only clean, but hydrogen-rich with strong antioxidant properties, straight from the tap.

A water ioniser: more than a water filter

Why filtered water and premium water are not the same.

When retreats look for better water, most start with a water filter. It makes sense. A filter removes what you don't want in the water and makes it cleaner. But the water itself stays the same. The pH stays the same, the minerals stay the same, and you always get one type of water. Some filters, like reverse osmosis, even remove the good minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

A water ioniser goes further. It starts the same way, by filtering the water through a multi-layer filter. Then the water flows along titanium plates coated with platinum, while a gentle electrical current passes through it. This process is called electrolysis. It splits the water into an alkaline part and an acidic part, and the natural minerals move mostly into the alkaline water. The water you drink.

Because electrolysis changes the pH, a water ioniser produces seven different types of water, from alkaline drinking water to strong water for cleaning. The types that matter most for your retreat are described below.

But the most special part is what is released during electrolysis: molecular hydrogen (H2). The smallest molecule that exists. And that is where it gets interesting.

Fine bubbles rising through clear water

Hydrogen: what makes this water premium

The smallest molecule, with a big role.

Hydrogen is the key difference between filtered water and water from a water ioniser.

Molecular hydrogen is the smallest molecule in existence, and one of the most researched antioxidants of the past two decades. What sets it apart in research is that it is selective: studies describe it targeting only the most harmful free radicals, and leaving the useful ones alone.

Ordinary water also contains hydrogen, but it is bound to oxygen. No filter can release it, and no bottle can hold it for long. Only through electrolysis is hydrogen set free and dissolved into the water, fresh from the tap.

You can see this in the water's oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). Tap and bottled water usually measure a positive ORP. Fresh water from the K8 measures a negative ORP, which anyone can check with a simple ORP meter.

Since Japanese researchers first described its effect in 2007, more than 1,000 scientific publications have followed, and universities around the world continue to study its role.

Enagic: Japanese water technology

The company behind the systems.

The systems described on this page are made by Enagic, a Japanese company founded in 1974. Enagic produces every machine in its own factory in Japan, where each unit is tested before it leaves.

In Japan, water ionisers are officially recognised as medical devices for home use. No other type of water treatment device holds that status. Enagic is certified to international ISO standards for quality, medical devices and environmental management, and holds the Gold Seal of the Water Quality Association.

Today, Enagic systems are used in hundreds of thousands of homes, hotels and wellness environments around the world, with local offices and service in many countries.

Premium Water Certified works with two of Enagic's most advanced systems: the LeveLuk K8 for drinking water, and the Anespa DX for the shower.

The LeveLuk K8

Seven types of water, one tap

The LeveLuk K8, Enagic's most advanced water ioniser.

The K8 is Enagic's most advanced water ioniser. It connects to an existing tap. It filters the water, then ionises it along eight platinum-coated titanium plates. With one touch of a button, it gives you seven types of water. These are the ones that matter most for you:

The Anespa DX in a stone shower

The Anespa DX

The shower upgrade.

For properties that want to extend the experience to the shower, there is the Anespa DX. A mineral shower system that reduces chlorine and adds natural minerals to the shower water.

The result is a noticeably softer shower, gentler on skin and hair. Especially in places with hard or chlorinated water, guests feel the difference right away. It turns a normal shower into a small spa moment, after a yoga session or a day in nature.

Where it fits in your retreat

One system, many moments.

An investment for years

What it costs, and what it replaces.

A water ioniser is not something you replace after a few years. With proper maintenance, the K8 lasts 25 to 30 years. Spread over that time, it costs less per day than a single bottle of water. And it replaces much more than bottles: one system for drinking water, coffee and tea, cooking, washing produce and cleaning.

Maintenance

The K8 is easy to maintain. It can be cleaned in-house about once a month, depending on how much it is used. About once a year it receives a professional deep clean, or less often with lighter use. Filters are replaced periodically.

Pre-filtration

Depending on the local water, a pre-filter may be recommended to protect the system.

Frequently asked questions

We have no plastic bottles. Does it still make a difference?

Yes. Filtered tap water is clean, but it stays the same water. The K8 adds hydrogen-rich, alkaline drinking water, and the badge makes your choice visible to guests.

We are a small retreat. Is one K8 enough?

For most retreats, one K8 at a central water point or in the kitchen is enough. In a consultation we look at your setup.

Is this the same as Kangen Water?

Kangen Water® is the name Enagic uses for the water produced by its water ionisers, including the LeveLuk K8. Premium Water Certified is an independent certification for properties that offer this water to their guests.

What does it cost?

The LeveLuk K8 is €4,600 and the Anespa DX €2,800 (official Enagic retail prices in Europe, excluding tax and delivery). During the introduction, certification and all marketing materials are included at no extra cost. Certified properties become members of the association for €50 per year.

How long does certification take?

Once your system is installed, you send a short application with photos. Each application is reviewed within 24 hours, after which you receive your personalised badge and marketing materials.

How much maintenance does the K8 need?

The K8 can be cleaned in-house about once a month, depending on use. About once a year it receives a professional deep clean, and filters are replaced periodically. With proper maintenance it lasts 25 to 30 years.

We already have a K8. Can we get certified?

Yes. You can apply directly for certification. Enagic distributors can also apply on behalf of their clients.

What is the difference between the two levels?

Drinking Water Certified requires the LeveLuk K8. Gold Certified, the highest level, requires both the LeveLuk K8 and the Anespa DX shower system.
